Commercial Gutters for Churches, Rentals and Metal Buildings
Big roofs make big water. We install larger seamless gutters, long downspouts and leaf protection on churches, rental homes, shops and metal buildings across the Des Moines area, and we plan the work around the people using the building.
Commercial Gutters, Start to Finish
A church roof, a pole building or a block-wall shop sheds far more water than a house. When the gutter is too small, it spills over the front edge and lands at the door people use most. In winter that water freezes on the walk. On a metal building, snow can slide off the panels and pull a weak gutter right off the wall. Commercial gutter work is mostly about volume, height and getting it done without shutting the place down.
We work for church committees, landlords and property managers, business owners and folks with metal shops and farm buildings. Luke handles the estimate himself. He measures each roof plane, looks at the pitch and the wall height, and notes where water goes now. Then he lays out gutter size, outlet spots and where each downspout should empty, so water stays off sidewalks, parking areas and entries.
We run 5-inch and 6-inch seamless gutters and set up suspended gutter systems on walls with no fascia board to hang from. Downspouts can turn out over grass, empty onto splash blocks or tie into underground tile. Leaf protection is an option on buildings under trees. Read our 5-inch vs. 6-inch gutter guide for the sizing basics, or see our main seamless gutter installation page.

What we handle on commercial jobs
- 5-inch and 6-inch seamless gutters in long runs
- Suspended gutter systems for walls without fascia
- Long downspouts on tall block and metal walls
- Underground tile and diverters away from entries
- Leaf protection for buildings under trees
- Work planned around services, tenants and hours
Churches and meeting halls
Church roofs tend to be steep and tall, and the main doors often sit under a valley or a long eave. That is where overflow does the most harm: a sheet of water on Sunday morning, then ice on the steps in January. We look at where people walk first. Downspouts get moved or added so water is carried away from entries and ramps, and each run is sized for the roof area above it. We schedule work on weekdays so it does not bump into services, weddings or funerals.
Rental homes and small multi-unit buildings
Landlords want a gutter they do not have to think about. Every overflow is a tenant call, and every wet basement is a bigger one. On rentals we focus on the parts that cut repeat trips: seamless runs with fewer joints, hangers that hold under snow, downspouts that empty well away from the foundation, and leaf protection where trees hang over. Owners with houses across Des Moines and the suburbs can call once, and Luke will walk the properties and price each one on its own.
Metal buildings and shops
Metal roofs move water fast and drop snow in sheets. A gutter set in the wrong spot can be bent or torn off in one thaw. We look at the panel overhang, roof pitch and wall height before we pick a size and hanger plan. Tall walls mean long downspouts, so we strap them to the wall so wind does not work them loose, and we turn them out where trucks and mowers will not crush them. Brown, white, black and many other colors are available to match the trim.

Luke, Jaxx & Larry
A family business, third generation. Luke runs every estimate himself and Jaxx works the jobs with him. Larry, the shop dog, mostly supervises.
Do you install gutters on churches in the Des Moines area?
Yes. Churches are one of the building types we work on. Luke will look at the roof, the entries and where people park, then plan gutter sizes and downspouts to keep water and ice off steps and walks. We can schedule the work around services and events.
Can you put gutters on a metal pole building or shop?
Yes. We install gutters and downspouts on metal buildings in colors that match the trim. The keys are placement under the panel edge and enough hanger strength for snow sliding off the roof. Long downspouts get strapped to the wall and turned out where equipment will not hit them.
What size gutter does a large commercial roof need?
It depends on roof area, pitch and how far water travels to an outlet. This Old House rates a 6-inch K-style for about 7,960 square feet of roof, versus about 5,520 for a 5-inch. Big roofs often need 6-inch gutters plus extra downspouts. Luke measures and lays it out at the free estimate.
Can one contractor handle gutters on several rental properties?
Yes. Property managers and owners with several houses can call once. Luke can walk the properties, note what each one needs and give separate estimates so each house stays on its own books. New gutters, repairs and leaf protection can be mixed by property.
Will gutter work disrupt my business or my tenants?
We keep it as light as we can. Work happens on weekdays, Monday to Friday, and we keep ladders and material out of doorways. We pick up scrap and screws before we leave, and we do a final walkthrough with you or your manager at the end.
